March 07, 2012 - The City of Palhoca - SC - Brazil - is one of the most corrupt cities in the world. The mayor makes around R$700.000,00 per month through bribes and contracts for city services. The city has broken off the water agreement with the state to create their own water company, however, that water company has not done anything for the city. They only supply water, but are supposed to do all the sewer for the city. The city charges for the fee, but nothing gets done. The mayor recently separated from his wife, so she could run for office in the next election. The judicial system in Brazil is even more corrupt, since they do not do anything about this issue. |
