October 05, 2011 - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday arrested former IT consultant of the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Dr Majid Naeem on charges of embezzling Rs 2.8 million in the Punjab University (PU). Dr Naeem was suspended from the PU in 2002 on the charges of corruption. He was proved guilty in the inter-departmental inquiry held by the university. According to Punjab NAB Director Attiqur Rehman, Dr Naeem was arrested so that the embezzled money could be recovered. He was accused for corruption of Rs 4,100,000. He had been working as the BISE IT consultant in Lahore. He was removed from his post in the BISE due to massive anomalies in results of the intermediate examination 2011 Part-I.
It is worth mentioning that Dr Naeem was presented before a judicial commission headed by LHC judge Justice Chaudhary Shahid Saeed to probe into the issue of error-based intermediate examination Part-I results on Saturday.
